I calculated the average temperature in the region, and found that the coldest day of the year is around 23 January. Hurray! It made me feel like a party and since Christmas is celebrated 4 days after the shortest day, I thought it should be celebrated on 27 January and be called Cryomas.
Anyone want to go for dinner? The data are from
NCEP reanalysis.
